Hampden Lodge is a Freemasons lodge based in Thame, Oxfordshire. We meet five times a year, on a Friday, where we conduct various different ceremonies. In many ways these are like plays, with the aim of helping a member understand more about aspects of Freemasonry such as, morality, nature and science. Along with the ceremonies, we also work together to help local and National charities as well as enjoying a social aspect.
Hampden Lodge was consecrated (officially created) on the 12th of September 1946 and meets at Thame's Masonic Hall in the center of the town. The lodge takes its name from John Hampden (ca. 1595 - 1643). We are a part of the Masonic Province of Oxfordshire. Something which makes us unique is that when we meet, the partners and wives of the members of Hampden Lodge also arrange to meet up for a meal locally.
We have a variety of members coming from many different backgrounds, spanning a wide age range. When we meet up, we always meet on the square and as equals. When you become a Freemason, you become a fellow brother within the Fraternity and as such are expected to show brotherly love, relief and truth at all times. Becoming a Freemason is an important milestone in any mans life. If you are interested in joining Hampden Lodge, we would welcome your interest with a warm response and be happy to answer any questions you might have.
