June 8, feature. By Lisa Zyga , Phys. Does mysticism have a place in quantum mechanics today, or is the idea that the mind plays a role in creating reality best left to philosophical meditations? Harvard historian Juan Miguel Marin argues the former - not because physicists today should account for consciousness in their research, but because knowing the early history of the philosophical ideas in quantum mechanics is essential for understanding the theory on a fundamental level. In a recent paper published in the European Journal of Physics, Marin has written a short history, based on a longer analysis, of the mysticism controversy in the early quantum physics community.

What is Life? Another document will propose additional ideas needed to account for evolution of various kinds of intelligence, especially spatial intelligence leading up to ancient mathematical discoveries in geometry and topology that cannot be explained by current neural or computational theories. A link to it will later be placed here. Both versions are derived from the edition of the book, which was reprinted several times up to Curiously that edition was divided into chapters, but also used section numbers, that continued consecutively across the chapter boundaries. For example, Chapter VI in the edition begins with Section 54!

In the View Point article of Reference 1, the editor of CIB was kind enough to let me express my views on the topic of Darwinian evolution. Since then and mainly through contacts generated by that article, I felt that there was more to be said on this topic. The editor was kind enough to allow me to air my views again. I have no qualifications in biology or philosophy, so the readers of CIB may find that some of the material on evolution in this article is well-known territory to them, but for me it was a part of the unfolding story that informed my understanding and led me to some conclusions. The article presents my rearrangement of material contained or taken from references 2, 4, 5, and 6 linked by my own commentary.

The sheep-goat effect cannot be explained without considering mind of specific states. A fundamental construct of this theory is the operation of mind-matter events in a spatial-temporal-attentional domain, which reduces to the spatial-temporal domain wherein purely objective events are registered, at the vanishing of the effect of attention.

He developed the Schrodinger equation which provides a way to calculate the wave function of a system and how it changes dynamically in time. The lecture attracted an audience of people. Some consider it one of the most influential scientific books of the twentieth century. The book attracted scientists from other fields to the study of genetics and the molecular mechanisms of life, among them physicists Francis Crick, Maurice Wilkins and Seymour Benzer, chemist Gunther Stent and zoologist James Watson.

Erwin Schrodinger was one of the main creators of quantum mechanics. Schrodinger developed the wave mechanics and introduced the very concept of the wave function. It became the second formulation of quantum mechanics. The first formulation, called matrix mechanics, was developed by Werner Heisenberg.

completed the book - was usually by Erwin Schrodinger. I always found his writing to be compelling, and there was an excitement of discovery, with the prospect.
